🌱 What to Keep in Mind When Your Child Begins Learning English

For Parents and Guardians
When young children begin learning English before entering elementary school, the most important thing is to create moments that help them enjoy the language.
There is no need to push formal study at this stage.
What matters most is giving your child gentle, natural exposure to English in daily life and sharing enjoyable parent‑child moments. These small experiences build a strong foundation for future learning.

🧸 1. Help Them Become Familiar with English Sounds

Singing English songs together or watching simple alphabet videos helps children naturally absorb the rhythm and sounds of English.
The cycle of “listen → imitate” is especially effective during early childhood.

✍️ 2. When Your Child Begins to Write

If your child is becoming comfortable holding a pencil and writing,
you can gently introduce practice with uppercase and lowercase letters (A–Z).
*They don’t need to write neatly
*Enjoyment is more important than accuracy
*One or two letters per day is enough
As they begin to write letters, their confidence in English grows quickly.

📚 3. Read Aloud in Both the Mother Tongue and English

For children who are just starting English,
reading aloud in their mother tongue first, followed by English, is highly effective.
IGPE’s A0‑level reading materials are ideal for beginners because they include:
*Simple vocabulary
*Clear, easy‑to-understand sentences
*Fun and reassuring content with quizzes

By understanding the story in their mother tongue first and then hearing it in English, children are more likely to feel, “I understand this!” “English is fun!”
Repeating the same book many times helps them gradually understand more English.
There is no need to rush—slow, joyful repetition is the key.

🌈 4. Celebrate “I Did It!” Moments Together

The most important part of early learning is
sharing moments of success with your child.
*They wrote an alphabet letter
*They imitated an English sound
*They listened to an A0 story all the way through

No matter how small the achievement, please acknowledge it with warm words.
These moments nurture your child’s growing love for English.
